Refreshing matcha lemonade

Refreshing and packed with antioxidants. This matcha lemonade is just what you need during the warmer days.

Ingredients for 2 glasses

  • 2 grams (about 1 teaspoon) of matcha powder
  • 60 ml hot water (not boiling, about 80°C)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup, honey or another sweetener of your choice (to taste)
  • 400 ml cold water or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon or lime wedges, mint or cucumber (optional, for garnish)

Preparation

  1. Sieve the matcha powder into a bowl or measuring cup to avoid lumps.
  2. Add the hot water and whisk with a chasen (bamboo matcha whisk) until completely dissolved and a nice layer of foam forms.
  3. In a large jug or shaker, mix the lemon juice and sweetener until the sweetener is well dissolved. Then add the dissolved matcha and stir well.
  4. Add the cold water or sparkling water and mix well. Fill two glasses with ice cubes and pour the matcha lemonade on top.
  5. Add a slice of lemon, fresh mint or cucumber for extra freshness.
